My husband and I always look forward to our time in Montauk every summer. After viewing the website, we decided to stay at the Blue Haven-my husband called to make the resevation and the reservationist told him that their efficiencies were perfect for our family of four (two small children) because we would be able to cook and have breakfast in the room. The pictures on the website looked inviting.
After the long drive we were anxious to settle in to our room but decided to stop at the grocery store for snacks for the kids.
We were soooo disappointed when we arrived. The rug was torn in places and the bedspreads were worn out and disgusting. The table was shoved in between the bed and the stove making it impossible to use the stove or sit at the table. There was no way a family of four could have squished into this tiny room. When we told the office, she agreed that the reservationist never should have sold us on this room. Of course, in mid-August, they were booked in their other larger rooms so we spent an hour trying to find a suitable location elsewhere in Montauk. The owners refused to refund our deposit so we were stuck in the little room for one night. To make matters worse, we had ants and the tiny refridgerator didn't work and our groceries spoiled.
It was a terrible start to a much needed getaway.
